Planning a 3.5-4 week adventure across Southeast Asia (late Feb to late March) for a group of six spanning three generations—us in our late 30s and both sets of parents in their 70s—felt like a massive puzzle (it was). A Masterclass in Wonder
Cambodia: We started with a private city and temple tour in Phnom Penh, including a deeply respectful, moving visit to the Killing Fields. Then, we boarded an ultra-luxurious Mekong River cruise for immersive daily cultural activities before heading to Siem Reap to explore the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat National Park Complex.
Laos: In Luang Prabang, the gorgeous French colonial architecture and lush flora instantly reminded me of home (the French Quarter in New Orleans!). We participated in the peaceful morning alms-giving ceremony with the monks, followed by incredible nature and culture tours.
Vietnam: Hanoi welcomed us with electric nightlife and food tours, followed by jaw-dropping karst sightings and a boat cruise through emerald waters in Ha Long Bay, and wrapped up with beachside relaxation and local culture in Da Nang.
